When ONE Championship goes back to Manila this January 25th, expect a flurry of firework display inside the cage. As ONEFC.com revealed, ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje Eustaquio is set to headline ONE Championship: Hero’s Ascent.
An Epic Trilogy: Eustaquio vs. Moraes III
Eustaquio’s opponent is not a stranger in the title match, though. A former titleholder himself, Brazilian Adriano Moraes wants to take back what he has formerly held, the ONE Championship Flyweight belt.
The two is no stranger to one another as they fought twice in a title match before. During the first match, Moraes submitted Eustaquio via guillotine choke in the second round at ONE FC 20: Rise of the Kingdom back in 2014.
But in their second match, Eustaqios won via a split decision in a hard-fought match at ONE: Pinnacle of Power held in Macau, China. With the win, Eustaquio also claimed Moraes’ ONE Championship Flyweight title.
With one win apiece, a third match is set to determine once and for all which among the two great warriors is the most dominant flyweight at ONE Championship today. And this will take place at ONE Championship: Hero’s Ascent.
Supporting Matches
ONE Championship: Hero’s Ascent will also banner two Filipino MMA superstars. Team Lakay’s Danny Kingad, himself a former contender for the ONE Championship Flyweight title, will be featured as the main supporting bout of the event. He is set to fight with Japanese MMA fighter Tatsumitsu Wada at the heavier 135-lb class.
Another Team Lakay standout and the first ONE Championship Featherweight champion, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, will take part at the said event. He is set to face an undefeated American MMA fighter, Lowen Tynanes.
So what are you waiting for Filipino MMA fight fans? Mark your calendars as ONE Championship; Hero’s Ascent is set to take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
