ONE Championship Fight of the Year Features 3 Pinoys

ONE Championship panelists have voted for the most exciting, the most action-packed, no-holds-barred bout that happened this year. And after the dust has cleared, the bout between Aung La N Sang and Ken Hasegawa at ONE: Spirit of a Warrior was voted as the best world championship bout in 2018.

As ONE commentator Michael Schiavello puts it, “What superlative can you possibly put on a match like Aung La N Sang and Ken Hasegawa? Extraordinary, awesome, epic, amazing, fantastic, thrilling, brilliant – all those words are not enough to describe what a match this was,” as posted on OneFC.com.

Alas, only one man was left standing, “I don’t know how you rate things like that, but for me, it was a fun fight, and I like fun fights,” Aung La N Sang said.

Danny Kingad vs. Yuya Wakamatsu

Completing the top five bouts for this year includes three bouts featuring Filipino MMA fighters. The first of the three bouts features former ONE Flyweight World Title challenger Danny “The King” Kingad who defeated Japanese newcomer Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu at ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES back in September.

Kevin Belingon vs. Bibiano Fernandes

The non-stop barrage of everything Kevin Belingon and Bibiano Fernandes could give at ONE: HEART OF THE LION was also voted as runner up. In the end, Belingon successfully avenged his loss to the Brazilian in his first world title tilt back in 2016. Along with that is the ONE Championship Bantamweight World Title.

Eduard Folayang vs. Amir Khan

Eduard Folayang got a second shot at the vacant ONE Lightweight Championship and he did not disappoint, defeating Singaporean contender Amir Khan at ONE: CONQUEST OF CHAMPIONS.

Completing the top 5 bouts of the year is the fight between Chinese star “The Underdog” Li Kai Wen and American Emilio “The Honey Badger” Urrutia at ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER back in July.
